I run to Conklin sometimes twice a week as we service two BIG oil sand projectas there and yes bears were becoming a very real and dangerous problem in the area... The residents have only themselves to blame by feeding the animals and thus making them unafaraid of humans... Its a very sad story yes but had a person been attacked and killed then the out cry would have been .."why didnt they do somethig about the bear problem!"
"doing something about the bear problem" is freaking NOT feeding them. I am DUTCH and I know that. You guys are freaking Canadian, and make up excuses and go kill them.
There are other ways to deal with them. More expensive, yeah, sure. But as long as we in BC have to pay for Olympics that nobody has calculated the real costs of yet, and which budget has been broken 15 times already, MAYBE, just MAYBE we ALL could just take better care of the precious wildlife we have in this country, instead of shooting it. Spend some money on things that are worth it, instead of on things that nobody wants.
