So Saad Khalid's legal defense team argues that he should only be sentenced to two years in prison?

The only emotion I feel at this point is praise for the security forces who prevented these bombings as a lot of people would have been killed or seriously wounded.

My hope is that Mr Khalid will be given a great deal of time to "understand Islam" -- in prison.

The comment that the Canadians aren't tough like the Americans or the British is a bit comical. Look at Canadian history. How can anybody argue Canadians aren't tough?

Who was it that said Islam is a religion of peace? How do they define the word peace?

I am afraid of these verdicts.

Afraid of the shocking joke they may be,
and of the message they will send.

2 for 1 is already an idiotic idea for sentencing.
Crediting time for pre trial or trial is just wrong.

I so sincerely hope I am wrong.

We already know that there are radical Muslin's preaching Jihad in Canadian mosques and that was one of the things that encoraged Mohammed Mansour Jabarah and others to go seek training and become terrorists. We need someone other than CSIS to keep an eye on them and somone with the guts to stand up when they play the race card.
    Terrorists are not a race.

"I am not a lunatic who is hell bent on destruction of Western civilization," said the 22-year-old, who explained that he was a middle-class McMaster University student from a good home. His mistake, he said, arose from a "disagreement on the issue of Canadian foreign policy, specifically Canada's involvement in Afghanistan."

So he was in disagreement over Canada being in Afghanistan?

Ok, sure... but when you simply disagree with someone and resorting to bombing and killing many people..... Um.... yeah, that to me sorta falls in the "Lunatic" category.

"I know now that resorting to violence is not the way to bring about social or political change," said Mr. Khalid

    OOOOoooohhhhh..... NOW he knows....

That's using that big McMaster University Brain of your's you twit. I knew this back when I was 6 years old, if not younger.... and he's just figuring this out now?

    I smell ass kissing.

I ain't buyin it one bit. It's pretty common knowledge that ammonium nitrate is used to make a damn powerful explosive. When yer clandestinly unloading boxes of it and buying unmarked boxes to put it in, you can't honestly say you didn't think anything was wrong with that scenario.

That's like buyin a stereo and or speakers off a truck in the street.
"But your Honour, I didn't know it was hot."
    Bulllllllshittttttttt!

Jail him until the Second Coming and deport the family that agreed with what he was doing and called Canada, the country that has provided so much for them, "a filthy country" because we're not "Islamic" (of course it turns out neither are they according to his apologetic commentary).

Let them see how much "cleaner" everything is over in Pakistan. These shits never remember the original reasons they left their Pakistani-shangri-la to live in a 'filthy' western nation.

Not being a lunatic means he was perfectly sane. He better had claimed to be a lunatic for his sake... Glad he didn't though. Maybe, just maybe, a one way ticket to Afghanistan to solve the shit there is an option?

that's too much for most to handle...

I could care less if these were blonde-haired blue-eyed
Presbyterians from the local church bingo society... they
plot to bomb and kill Canadians, they go to jail or to the
    gallows hill.

to get off with no charge or hard time is ridiculous,
the courts should not PUNISH and endanger Canadians just
because our law enforcement did such a phenomenal job and
stopped these S**THEADS BEFORE THEY ATTACKED!!!

I quite agree. The guy blowing up sour gas wells is just as much a terrorist as these people.

In reflection though, many of the "progressive" here used to chant that "one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter" but I guess that only matters when it's OTHER people being killed.

Nope, don't care what colour, race, creed, religion you are. If you plan to cause, and gather the materials necessary for mass killing and mayhem upon innocent civilians, you are a terrorist.

You might be confused, pretty sure that's a line from a James Bond movie...

Nope. You won't hear it hear but you'll hear it if you go through the Iraq, Afghanistan or Indonesian threads. All of the folks who supported or accepted terrorist supporters working in Canada are now seeing the ugly end of their business.
