A video posted on the internet shows Mohawk Warriors using a backhoe to dig up and cart away a century-old border marker between Canada and the U.S. on the Akwesasne reserve near Cornwall, Ont.

Thank goodness for the strong arm of the law..
On a side, is it now a community credit course to spew lefty crap on the CBC comment pages? It's like a wormhole right back to the communist revolution.

One presumes not, as by his own admission, "getting into the political" gets you a "handful of shit". Perhaps the Mohawks are simply desperately short of obelisks, and this is an act of self-preservation. I for one do not wish our noble indigenous peoples to lead lives with a less-than-optimum number of obelisks in them. Let us immediately ship them a truckload of brand-new obelisks, complements of the Government of Canada. Maybe then they'd leave the ones with some historical value alone

On a seriouse note, vandals need a good hard bitch slap.
How can you expect respect when you show none?

Did you two read the article ?

Warriors did what they liked, and broke the obelisk.

    Cops ran away.

I bet JTF2 could retrieve an obelisk from their longhouse headquarters in style.

    I'm inclined to agree.

There, the truck runs into a road block set up by Mohawk police to stop the Warriors and is surrounded by police cars.
"It's property that doesn't belong to them," Sgt. Matt Rourke is heard saying on the video. "Their name's not on it. It's not theirs."

And the award for biggest, useless tit goes to: Sgt. Matt Rourke. Homeland Security will be contacting you shortly.

Neither JTF2 or the OPP or the RCMP are going to do anything about this.

Canadians are too scared to deal with the natives and they will continue to do what they want, even if you guys continue to post strongly worded paragraphs on CKA.

The Mohawks must be quaking in their boots.

Its a stupid fucking piece of cement lol. ooooohhhh scary Indians....

The cop did the exact right thing. If he escelated the situation he loses, the Indians lose and you all lose a shitload of money on the public inquiry.

How about you build a replica and make your own public statement by putting it back in place. Make 100 of them. You dorks can take turns makeing peaceful political statements. You set it up, the mohawls will take it down. Reminds me of painting the cannon at CFB Vernon.

I guess no one noticed the the 1800's incriptions on the base of the obelisk...anyone curious??

Yea, he did the right thing.
Letting natives getting away with breaking the law is always 'the right thing'.

At this rate, we might as well fence off the reservations and consider it a foreign country.

Well the Canadian's history of doing the right thing when it comes to us Natives is pretty poor.
