For the past week, the Quebec press has been keeping tabs on the Harper government's handling of the situation, and the overwhelming majority of pundits in the province have concluded the Prime Minister has done an excellent job so far. In fact, it is saf
As he should. I've been disappointed by some of his actions - ie prorogue, but his actions in support of Haiti gets an A+ from me.
Agreed pledging up to $100 million for a nation that has been utterly destroyed by potentially the worst natural disaster of modern times, is a standup thing to do. We need to help rebuild Haiti, and make it a better place for all Haitians. Thank You Mr. Harper.
I was just watching CNN and some woman was screaming at one of the journalists, "Why are all you white people in Haiti?". She was pissed that the Americans were now providing security at the local hospital.
I guess white people caused the natural disaster due to our extreme racism? Idk. Anyways, when it comes to natural disasters. We have always done a good job IMO. Either the government or individual Canadian companies. Like hurricane katrina, many of those residents that were still alive had moved and kept to where they moved to. Either they liked it better or the fact they had nothing to move back to. Other residents who wanted to stay there but where living in a shithole because there government wouldn't assist them in rebuilding. They spend years bickering with themselves about what to do and how to do it. Luckily many Canadian companies had sent some financial backing and even construction crews going out there to help reconstruct some homes and get them on the right track.
Haiti is a far worse situation and I had no doubt we would do the right thing.
