Yeah he was quite the player for them. I was there to play a hockey tournament when they were making a run in the playoffs in his last year with them. The city certainly loved him. That rink stinks though......the corners are square.

Lol, the corners are rounder now than they were 15 years ago. The zamboni driver used to have to get off the tractor and squeegie the water into the corners 'cause it was too square for the zamboni-sweep to reach.
They've made a lot of upgrades to the Memorial Centre over the past 10 years. As for the arena "stinking"...the 1970s smell of stale popcorn, beer and urine is long gone...it's a quality venue now.
Rounder? I played there last in 2003 but I don't mind the smell of stale beer and popcorn in an old shack, although I don't remember any smell. If the corners are rounder I would have hated to play there before that!! The first time I tried to clear the puck from behind the net it was down to a dribble by the time it hit our blue line. The next time I tried to do that, I stepped into it good but their D man had no problem keeping it in and sending it back at our net. After that I just didn't come back into our end. We were joking on the bench that maybe it wasn't a good idea to do that......the rebound could come back and hit us.
