As the Vancouver Winter Games draw to a close this weekend, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson will hand the Olympic flag to IOC president Jacques Rogge, who in turn will hand it to Sochi Mayor Anatoly Pakhomov. Sochi, Russia, is the home of the 2014 Winter

    This could add a new twist to the biathlon.

    Seriously though, this is a potentially dangerous area to host an event like the Olympics. It'll be interesting to see how things develop over the next 4 years.

    It's not just the Chechens. The article mentions four Islamic insurgencies going on against the Russians in the immediate region. They're anti Western and anti Russian, this is going to be a security and logistics nightmare for any and all involved in the games.
