After betraying a country offering numerous chances, failing a family who hoped he'd change and proving himself a public danger, a longtime criminal has been deported.
bullshit headline - it took 9 years to finally get rid of this scum. But that's bad enough. Being convicted of robbery in 2001 should have been his ticket home - right after he served his sentence. Man we're suckers in this country.
"PublicAnimalNo9" said ONE appeal to a deportation order should be the maximum number of appeals allowed. Unless yer not a citizen yet, then NO appeal at all.
Say what? If you're a citizen, we're pretty well stuck with you. Where you going to deport people born in this country to? Are you going to have a two class citizenship system, where people not born here, but naturalized citzens, have less rights than native born? The only exception is with people who lied to get in, like war criminals.
When Stoffels refused to get out of the car, he was shot in the leg, shattering his femur before being beaten and then taken to hospital. Immigration transcripts show Dwomoh "minimized harm," saying he "could have killed" Stoffels but the man "didn't die, he just got shot in the leg."
What a freakin humanitarian. How could immigration be so cruel as to deport such an upstanding citizen as Mr. Dwomoh?
If he was deported when he did his first crime, like he should have been, he never would have had a chance to shoot someone, in Canada. When you agree to your landing rights the contract is explicit, "no criminal activity."
Person who was shot should sue the government for not doing their job and putting them at risk.

You want to deport people born in Canada to Somalia for doing crimes. Maybe one day they'll come for you.
I think he meant those who have immigrated here and become citizens. If I recall there is a process to strip citizenship assuming the person still holds a second citizenship. I'd have to double check on that though. If there is its certainly not used much.

Thats actually not a bad idea.
Some places you can sue if the condition of the road becomes bad enough to damage cars, so the principle is set.
The government was very negligent in this case.... and many others.
You would just have to win once and then the government would have to start acting on these losers as everyone who becomes a victim of these guys second third etc crimes would have president to sue. stores that have been robbed, assault victims, parents of kids who have had drugs sold to them etc etc. Soon it would be just as price to not boot them as to let them stay.
In fact allowing them to stay when they could be removed is not only ignoring immigration rules it could be spun as a violation of the Charter of Rights (section eludes me atm) since they are knowingly endangering the public's safety.
Man what does it take to get deported from Canada ? Both had been warned and given more than fair chance to get their acts straight.
But that little voice inside me does make a noise that if sent back to somalia could be akin to a death sentence, so does his shit deserve something like that.
I dunno my mind says he deserves to be on a boat to Somalia but my heart says he doesn't deserve the death penalty for his crimes, and it quite flustrating to be honest.
I dunno maybe put him into prison for a long time or send to him to country other than somalia. As long as his life is not in danger it should be ok. Having no money and in an alien society. I say small price to pay for his violent crimes.

We hesitate to send them back because they may be tortured or killed in their lovely home country. But I say fuck that. If they don't want to be sent back, all they have to do is follow the law, keep their nose clean. Then, after 3 years they can become citizens and commit crimes like many other good Canadians without fear of being sent back.
I totally agree Andy, follow the law and be safe and one strike and your a gonner. But like I said that little voice inside me does make noises about sending someone potentially to their death and that does makes me a little uneasy though.
The Ghanaian should be have been sent packing way back in 2001. Anything of a violent nature should automatically carry a deportation order in my view.
