As long as everybody gets the same care, and pays the same, I am good, especially if you can insure yourself extra. BTW, kids under 18 should either be free or pay very little, and should be insured to the max. Including dental care, excluding orthodontic care when it comes to non-medical (un)necessities.
It is ridiculous that someone 20 kms away gets different care in the same country.

So...if the standard of care is LOWERED to a common denominator you'd be okay with that?

(been there done that... I used to have my birthcontrol paid for. For example. Then they reformed the healthcare system, and I had to pay. Or insure extra. I used to pay for my kids insurances, but after the reform, they were free.)
The government set the price and what standard should be covered. Insurance companies could come up with different packages as to what the people could buy extra insurance for. They didnt differ much, and prices are competitive. You are free in your choice of doctor, and they even help you (and pay for) medical necessary procedures across the border if the waiting list is too long.
Someone in Alberta should get the same level of care as someone in Ontario.
Healthcare should be taken away from the provinces and made a federal responsibility.

Ad so long as it becomes a federal liability I doubt that the provinces will complain.

I'm curious, what will you do if the federal solution is to give people in Ontario the same level of care as people in Alberta?

That federal government may have trouble surviving the next election.

Your kidding right? Healthcare here sucks compared to that offered in Alberta. I know this as I moved here 2 years ago from Calgary.

Apparently not for everyone. Read the story.
