The Supreme Court of Canada slammed the door shut today on a concerted attempt by the press to establish a blanket right to protect confidential sources.

    A good decision in my opinion.

    Perhaps some journalists can sometimes have hidden motives. Journalistic manipulation surely exists as bias appears to be fairly common. They, along with some of their supposed sources, could be as corrupt as any politicians they are reporting on.

    Sort of funny that no one has commented on this.

    This matter should be important. Have noticed that the QC media has gotten its panties all in a knot over this. Not sure why! Perhaps they have hidden motives, that's all! :)

    Well said. In some cases the "sources" are disgruntled, angry sorts who use the condition of confidentiality to smear the reputations of others.
