The whole situation is rather stupid. 10 minutes before I stepped on the plane to leave I called telus, told them where I was going, gave them my credentials, and now I'm paying only 10 bucks a month for them to basically reserve my number for me, aswell as emergency use of my phone. Sucks I still have to pay 10 bucks, but it's 70 bucks out of my pocket over the course of tour verses around 400 - 500 if I kept paying the amount I originlly signed for in my contract. The whole thing was quite painless.

For buddies of mine using Rodgers, they had just the opposite problem. Customer service agents were basically giving them the bird, and the lowest the one guy was able to "negotiate" his holders fee too was 25 bucks for 0 services, when his contract was a cheap 35 dollar plan to begin with.

All moot shit that probably should have been dealt with months or even just weeks ahead of time though.

Isn't it amazing what a little bit of publicity can accomplish.

They probably looked at what the other providers, like Telus, were doing and decided to provide the same. I would assume that they are going to with something similar to what CM had to pay. It's nice to see they changed things for him, but I really dislike it when soldiers present their crybaby attitudes to the general public. Thats not what being a soldier is about, and it should be strongly discouraged.

Sounds like his dad did most of the complaining. It's not really a crybaby attitude. The general public takes consumer issues to the media every day. Hell even Bell TV let's you suspend your sat. account for months at reduced charge if you are going to be away.

You're quite right there, I did get a little ahead of myself. I would be furious if a family member did a similar thing to me though. Last thing I would want is my name being dragged through the paper while Im overseas.
