Space shuttle Atlantis returned from orbit for the last time Wednesday, closing out a 25-year flying career and safely bringing back six astronauts who boosted the International Space Station's power and size.

    There was an obvious design flaw in that ice chunks from the external tank can smash into the wings breaking off the heat shield, but it sure looks impressive.

    How about satellite launches,including the Hubble space telescope? Would Canada have satellite tv or satellite phone service without the space shuttle program? Countless other classified military,and scientific experiments have been conducted on space shuttles. Your profile states that you are a pilot.I am surprised that as a pilot you do not have a greater interest in space exploration.
