A Vancouver man who says he was beaten outside his own home by two police officers who had the wrong address says he's "disappointed and angry" they have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

No, that's what happens when you have simpletons that can't figure out a simple number combination denoting someone's address.
Actually it was the same address, just that the call came from the basement suite rather than the main floor. Pretty easy mistake to make. If the cops came pounding on your door about domestic violence, would you argue with them or call your wife down to prove there's no issue? But to do that you'd have to know what they want.
Brenda keeps insisting that immigrants to Canada speak English - how come in so many instances, including this one, that doesn't seem to be the case.
This guy, like the newspaper carrier is claiming lasting trauma. The difference is that the newspaper guy didn't do anything wrong, the off duty cops had no reason to go after him. Unlike this guy.

Why would you read a Chinese statement to reporters from the English speaking media in Canada?
And of course:
The case involves Yao Wei Wu, 44, who suffered serious injuries when he was beaten outside his home on Jan. 21.
A civil lawsuit filed by Wu claims Vancouver police constables Nicholas Florkow and Bryan London did the beating.
The encounter that ensued left Wu -- who does not speak English -- bloodied and with an eye swollen shut.
Wu says he has been unable to resume work at his flooring job due to blurry vision and an aching body, and that a doctor has advised his wife, Nan Man Chi, she should stay home from her restaurant job because of emotional distress.
Neither him nor his wife have been able to work for nearly a year, because of the trauma they suffered, the poor dears. Wonder how they make ends meet?
"Delta police Chief Jim Cessford's written decision, released Wednesday . . Cessford said Wu's injuries were consistent with the officers' account."
This is why the public does not trust police investigating their own. The Chief and the officers may be a completely upstanding guys, but we will always have the nagging suspicions something is just not right, and question the whole process.
Two guys dressed like cops knock on the door, grab him, drag him out and beat him. Is a man not justified in defending his home against unlawful search and seizure? Should the public just accept the authority of anyone claiming to be police officers?
Did the chief really expect to find the victims injuries inconstant with the officers testimony? If he pushed the officer or not, would there be evidence of this in the victims injuries? Or is there any evidence of what occurred, other than the word of both officers?
Police state in the making, or innocent mistake - it's really hard to tell from a closed process like this.
I agree that cops should not be investigating cops.
But in this case, the police thought they were dealing with an emergency, that this guy was assaulting his wife. Should he really be allowed to refuse entry to them in this case? I don't know if the police force was proportional to the incident, I don't know how much he struggled. But he would have been a lot better off if he could have communicated with them.
Just to make clear, Andy, since you mentioned my name, saying I claim every immigrant speaks English... What I say is that every Skilled Worker Visa Applicant, Entrepeneur or Investor Visa Applicant has to take a language proficiency test. Not the spouse, just the applicant. If this man and woman both did not speak English, they did not enter Canada as Skilled Workers. Family Class applicants and refugees do not need to speak English. That has to be changed. Because shit like this, should not happen.
I also believe that immigrants (no matter the class you apply in/for/at (so much for speaking English ) should be smarter than this themselves, and should WANT to speak the language.
So he is an immigrant, this just means he likely should know better than any non immigrant that when the cops come to your door you say yes sir no sir two bags full sir and DON"T dare shove them. Shoving in most countries will get you a beating and in many will get you worse. What do you think would happen to a Chinese national if he tried assaulting a cop in China? Bad news buddy! So this guy, if he shoved the cops, had to know he'd have something coming to him.
Whose side to be believe on limited info? Well a 20 minute beating by two guys who know how to kick ass and have batons would close to kill most people, this guy was not even close to that. As far as not being able to work for a long time, well milking injuries is pretty easy. So what, hoping for a free meal ticket in the new sucker of a country maybe?
BTW where is the info on the poor woman downstairs who was possibly continuing to get her ass kicked by hubby while Mr. Wu was obstructing justice because he was too lazy to learn even basic English? Another score for our immigration system here!

He's not beating his wife if he's standing in plain view. And as soon as you must allow entry to police under any circumstances (ignoring the charter violation) then home invaders only need to wear police uniforms. (which happens fairly regularly)
But I agree with you on the English part. At least basic English is needed to live, I would expect. I hear Vancouver is different however.
Define "fairly regularly" because the last guy, I think on this forum, who said it happened a lot could not pull up much to back up his statement save for like 2 cases a year in the whole country, which is not fairly regularly to me.
I mean good examples that would fool most people with at least an IQ 20 points under average. None of this "they had a cop hat," or "he had a T-Shirt that said police and a gun belt" or "he had a flashing light on his dash like in the movies." I mean if someone is stupid they are just gonna get taken by any idiot not matter what they are wearing.
BTW just because he is not beating his wife in plain view means squat if there was an assault / domestic call. Maybe she's dead in the back room for all the cops know.

It's funny that you assume he didn't speak English, AND that he is an immigrant. Just because his last name is Wu? Nice.
I don't assume, I go by what the paper tells me:
