The Conservatives have used their clout in the Senate stacked by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to kill an NDP climate change bill that was passed by a majority of the House of Commons.
The liberal senators should do the same with the crime bill and copyright bill. Wait until a few conservatives are on holiday or sick, call it snappy, and floor it there.

End of story.
Harper's probably trying to goad them into doing exactly that. He couldn't care less about whether or not any given piece of legislation passes as long as he can whip the country into an anti-opposition rage.
it would be nice if these people could, from time to time, work together to make life better for Canadians. the optics are that senators get paid scads to argue with other senators and go home, having accomplished nothing. they are like overpaid junior high school girls.
"hurley_108" said IMO Crime and Copyright bills are bloated and need to be killed. It's a good excuse to do so now.
Best to try and kill them in the house before the Senate can be dragged into it.
The Conservatives have shown they will not reason. They will strong-arm the libs into cowering again. Or he'll kill his own bill by pro-rouging parliament again.
End of story.
Now liberals, will expect the liberal senators to kill the crime bill under any circumstance.

That's pretty lame if you ask me. It's like something you'd see in the playground.

Too many libs in the house right now are wimps.
Maybe the Libs should have gone along with looking at an elected Senate when Harper suggested it in 2006. Crocodile tears.
The senate is working fine. Elected senate would become too prone to populist swings.
The environmental bill probably should have died anyhow. So should the crime bill, and most certainly the copyright bill.
If those two bills are killed in the senate, it would re-affirm my opinion that Canada's senate is working just fine.
