OTTAWA Canada's decision to stay in Afghanistan past 2011 won't go unnoticed in either the United States or around the world, according to U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman.
He is exactly right. We needs to thank Canada for their role in Afghanistan.
In the world of political BS and backstabbing st the highest levels in this whore house of a world. Canada has been a fixed point in this changing age.
Canada has been a grossly under-appreciated friend. The US and Canada has at times disagreed sometimes we were right, but more often we were wrong and treated Canada as a kid brother we can push around much to our discredit. A good friend will tell when you are wrong when you are wrong, but will help you pick up the pieces.
But in times of real national emergency Canada has come though as a true friend from before WW I to to the present times there are been many many times that Canada was there when it was not easy to be there.
The United States has one great thing to be very proud of: We get get to share the border of this great nation.
What Joseph Lieberman has said should have been said more often and not simply relating to Afghanistan.
I am an average person of no political significance, but for whatever it is worth I want to say to Canada: Thank you for being there and being our Canadian friends.
