911 operator fights firing over ignored call

I do not know what the policy is for this situation. If it is an imediate call back and he did not then he should loose his job, I would hope that if I called 911 and was diconnected they would call back or send help.

There isn't an education program on the planet that can teach common sense, which is what was needed in this scenario. A homeless person who was yanked off the street and put in the 911 chair to answer this call would've probably realized something was wrong, so what's this guy's excuse?

I think when it comes to essential services like 911 it should warrant firing, he dropped the ball and someone lost her life because of it, not like it was a minor mistake, someone paid dearly for his mistake and he should not be put in a position where it could happen again.

Somebody died - he's lucky he's just fired. And this is an ex cop to boot - Glad he's off the force: "can't answer that call right now, I'm eating a do-nut."

In Vancouver we've had cases of the cops battering down somebody's door because of a hung up 911 call, arresting the people who wouldn't let them in to make sure things are OK. Seems the cops here take those seriously. Unlike this guy. I mean Edmonton cops can't be that backward, can they?

This guy deserves to have been fired. That interrupted 911 call required a response and that response could have saved that woman�s life.

There is an Ontario Court of Appeal case where a 911 call implies consent for police to enter your residence using any force necessary to gain entry, I'm not sure what applies in Alberta though.

I agree with PA9, this guy having the neck to try and get his job back says it all, but then his union doesn�t care about the public, just their member.
