Who voted on this?

All you hear is: Liberal, NDP, Green Party...
But it doesn't matter who gets in - this HST stunt, lying to the public could have been pulled by any party. And let them be in power for a bit, and the cynical lying just becomes that much more entrenched. We keep voting for it in one way or another because we can't handle the truth.
They are mostly part of the BC Liberals - most BC Liberals vote Reformacon federally. But there's always been a small group of wing nuts keeping the Conservative dream alive. I doubt they'll get much traction this time. My prediction is that Christie Clarke will become premier and all will be forgotten and we'll get another few terms of her.

So true... I'm not sure I'm even gonna vote this time. What's the point. Whoever I vote in will just screw us over just like the previous government.
Thing is, it's still 2 years to the next election and I'll bet that the Liberals are going to try and wait out the storm and hope that everyone accpets the HST as a fait accompli by then.
Probably.
And if they did get rid of the HST, they would just make up for it somewhere else by raising or adding another tax. It's almost pointless to even fight the HST.
What we need is a government with a heart that doesn't grind people down into poverty. But one that also is willing to live within it's and our means, is willing to be upfront about how we've been living on credit for too many years. We need Tommy Douglas - he was a guy like that. Penny pincher with a heart. Or, if you want to go conservative - Robert Stanfield.
If you don't want to vote for anybody, go but spoil your ballot. It's a lot more powerful statement than staying at home.
The HST it self isn't the problem - most economists seem to think it's a preferable tax to others. I signed the petition because of the baldfaced lying way it was brought in. And, because it was brought in by Campbell, it doesn't ameliorate the effect on lower income people sufficiently. One of Campbell's favorite tricks - lower income taxes for everybody, so the rich save a lot more than the poor. Then bring in user fees and regressive taxes that hit everybody equally.

Well said.
