Bail denied will probably be the greatest understatement of the year.

Loughner is charged with one count of attempted assassination of a member of Congress, two counts of killing an employee of the federal government and two counts of attempting to kill a federal employee.

What about the rest? 6 people are dead, not 2. 20 people are wounded, not 3.

There's something to be said for keeping charges in reserve. If this trial gets somehow botched, they've got more the can hit him with on which jeopardy hasn't been attached.

If he hasn't been charged with the murder of the little girl, though, that is a shame. Though there may also be some procedural element that separates issues dealing with federal employees from civilians. The law is a strange beast.

Well, it takes a while to gather evidence on huge crime scenes like this Bren. I'm sure further charges will follow.

    Yeah, true dat...
It just seemed so unfair that the officials are more important than the others, while they are identified...

So the shooter faces Federal charges and State charges and will be arraigned and tried in both courts. It's looking like the US Justice Dept. is looking to help Arizona pursue the death penalty for this mutt. If so, Obama gets a from me on that.

He gets one from me as well

I.ve got a money making idea for Congress: auction off positions on the firing squad when they execute this insect.
