As changes to rules on OxyContin prescriptions have dominated headlines over the past week, a Thunder Bay physician says the publicity around narcotics addiction can add to the stigma facing patients suffering from chronic pain.

My wife is in that boat. She needs to take Oxycontin and oxycodone for her sever arthritis pain. All very correct from the DR, but when we get to the pharmacy they always make a collosal pain in the ass getting those RXs filled as they look at her like a drug abuser.

Man, something must be wrong with me cuz none of that shit does a thing to me. Oxys, percs(both kinds), demerol, morphine, dilaudid, vicadin, liquid codeine etc, range from doing nothing at all to being somewhat more effective than pot for back pain. None of them give me a buzz(not a complaint btw) except dilaudid and I freakin' HATE the way that shit makes me feel. They make me feel all itchy too  I've actually handed back a script for T3s and told the doc he might as well prescribe baby aspirin because it's going to have the same effect
I've only ever filled out a script for painkillers three times in the 20 years since the accident and all 3 times the pharmacist eyeballed me and made a big friggin' deal about it. And yet, all 3 scripts expired before I ever got close to finishing the bottle.
Of course I got those scripts only AFTER I could convince the doctors I wasn't a friggin' drug addict just because I smoked weed.

Whenever I have flare ups they know to give me my meds because it's a world better than dealing with me when I'm in pain and suffering from sleep deprivation due to the pain.

You got any left, or are you saving those for paying customers?

This is one issue that really makes me angry. I hate how recreational stoners have hijacked the struggles of those suffering from chronic pain.

Sure, you need that strawberry-flavored bud for your glaucoma. Right.

I've never even seen one. The last 5 years of comments from you make a lot more sense now that I know you've been high on opiates the whole time.

Thanks buddy. Sorry to hear you're in pain. Dont take it out on the rest of us please.

Even after a couple of T3s I'm still more lucid than you ever are.....that's what's truly sorry, well actually pathetic. But then again, unlike you I'm not suffering from pot induced schizophrenia.

Don't let your delusions get the better of you. Lay off the pills for a while and reality will come back to you.

"Prime Minister Harper has been clear that our number-one priority is prosperity - that is jobs and economic growth," said Minister Van Loan.

... And building super prisons for non-violent offenders. They forgot to mention that in the campaign I guess. It might might not have been a secret per-se, it probably just slipped their minds.
