Witnesses described a chaotic scene resembling a "war zone" as passengers scrambled to get to safety.

Couldn't people just describe it as a train wreck? Why do people always have to call things what they are not?

People understand things relative to things they already understand. So for those who have never experienced a train wreck they seek some frame of reference with which to better comprehend and accept what's happened to them.

They don't understand war zones any better...

Exactly, but saying the train wreck was like a train wreck is a bit silly. Saying it was utter devastation outside my realm of experience would have been more accurate. Get the analogy police on those folks right away.

Just found out a friend of mine and his wife were on board. He has some minor cuts and bruises but his wife has a huge laundry list of injuries, the worst being a fractured vertabrae and a punctured lung. :(

Waiting for an update. Their daughter is beside herself as she paid for the train and hotel package for them as a valentines Day gift.
