Not sure how you infer incest from the fact various native groups didn't interbreed much. I doubt that neolithic Europeans did either, and well into the middle ages. In fact don't the use Newfies for genetic studies because they're so similar?
B) I dont know how you couldnt since the article from the BBC claims the exact opposite, saying that after the groups were separated in to their geographical areas, they did interbreed. Now this isnt some bash at natives, the reason why you have red heads, blonds and brunettes is because of the same interbreeding in whites. I have been looking for the article (still cant find it) where I read it, that if you and your partner are of the same race, if you go back far enough you will have a common family member. This percentage increases the more similar you are (if you both have red hair, if you both have green eyes, if you are both from the same area ect).

It wasn't until the original mutant's grandchildren or great-grandchildren hooked up � cousin marriage is the norm through most of human history � that the first blue-eyed person appeared. He or she must have looked pretty odd for the Neolithic era.
After their divergence, there was little gene flow among Native American groups, especially in South America.
