Consumers believe they can expect to receive maximum advertised internet speeds in their homes most of the time, but the data to show how often that actually happens doesn't exist, a new study has found.
Telus has had this disclaimer since as far back as I can remember:
Speed and signal strength may vary with your configuration, Internet traffic, server, environmental conditions, applicable network management or other factors.
Mine is within range for the high speed connection I have with Telus. There are 2 levels beyond that for faster but I'm satisfied with what I have (suits my needs) without paying more than I am now.
I just did a speed test to verify.
1.5 to 6 mps download - Mine is 5.37 Up to 1 mps upload - Mine is .87
I recently had an issue with mine, the package I had was for 30 up and 10 down. Now I was getting around 26-27 up but 3 for down, and after weeks of pestering they sent a tech out. He checked the house and all the poles down the street and found the entire area I was in was being throttled from Toronto. Now they have rectified the problem and I get my 26-27 up and 8-8.5 down.
Come on, we know they've been misrepresenting their products for years.
