A fire that broke out on Columbia Street in downtown New Westminster, B.C., on Thursday morning has destroyed at least half a block of the historic neighbourhood.
Awwwww CRAP, I dealt with Copp's for many a year, the guy that owned the shoe repair shop directly below has been a friend for over 30 years, my old barber was right beside him, the old Royal city cafe was an old hangout over 40 years ago....onne Hell of a loss for the Royal City.
I heard about it this morning when I happened to check CTV news site. Saw the coverage on the news... that explosion was unreal. Devastating for sure. Always a shame when historical buildings are lost.
At least it was early enough that no one was at work yet and no first responders were injured (that I'd heard of anyway).
But at least The Paramount survived.
But at least The Paramount survived.
Riiiiiight, the fire should have been 11/2 blocks up the street......

Right. Sorry for trying to bring a little little levity into an unfortunate story.
