Violent and Frequent Attacks in Seattle for Smartphones

SEATTLE -- Most of us do it -- walk around staring at our phones oblivious to what's going on around us. That is leaving us wide open to criminals. We've had multiple violent attacks over smart phones in just one week. Three cases in one week

    Gotta love this bit.

Police are also still looking for two teenage girls who attacked a pregnant woman for her cell phone last Tuesday.

The woman was 9 months pregnant but that didn't stop the young robbers.

I just can't believe someone would attack a 9 months pregnant woman, it's just crazy, neighbor Ben Solomon said.

The victim said the two girls were wearing burkas and could have been 13 to 15 years old.

The girls stalked the pregnant woman from a store in the Northgate area, asking if they could use her phone. When the victim refused, the teens jumped her. One girl held her from behind as the other ripped the phone away.

If they were indeed wearing burkas, the woman would have no idea of the age of the attackers, and possibly not their gender either.

Their voices and what they had to say would give them away.

    In any case...

So I was typing "young girls in burkas" into Google images, and I came across this.

That's more my real point anyway. I've been coming across more and more stories of people wearing burkas to commit crimes. It's kind of the perfect disguise, isn't it?

It is the perfect disguise. Unlike a ski mask, it would be poor decorum to be suspicious of someone in a burka.

True. Like who's going to get tackled first walking into a bank? Baclava guy, or Burka girl. Or for that matter Burka guy, if he had a good close shave that morning.

A terrorist guy evaded British intelligence a couple of weeks ago by changing into a burka.

Quite the contrary, in the sandbox whenever you saw someone walking around alone in public in a burka and the person wasn't escorted by a man you knew they were suspicious. They were almost always men or suicide bombers. Women knew better than to go out amongst the rapists without an escort.

If you guys are going to spew your stuff, you should at least know what a burka looks like:
