IN THE 1930s Albert Einstein was greatly troubled by a phenomenon that came from quantum theory. Entanglement, as it is called, forever intertwines the fates of objects such as subatomic particles, regardless of their separation.

Just came back from a lecture given by PI (Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics) a fantastic Canadian institution made up of industry and academia with some of the brightest minds on the planet participating.

Dr Subir Sachdev from Harvard university was giving us a taste of some of his research in 'warm' super conductivity. Pretty exciting stuff if you a Physicist, you don't really even need to specialize in condensed matter physics to get a flavour for the possibilities of the holy grain room temperature super conductors. The even was sponsored by Cenovus Energy a regular contributor to advanced research.

The conclusions about cryptography are fascinating but I've long wondered how these properties can be put to use in communications? For instance the time lag in radio communications to Mars is about 45 minutes and what if that could become real time?
