This is the problem with conspiracy theories.

I have no problem thinking the Saudis were up to nasty business behind the scenes, but once you accept conspiracies can happen how can you believe nobody but the Saudis could ever be involved in the same or similar. You can't so you have to look at the complexity of who's seasoning the soup and what's creating the strongest flavor.

Me, I don't taste the influence of the House of Saud first or strongest.

Kind of odd for them to so a mea culpa at this point in time when they know with absolute certainty that they could have done anything they wanted inside the US and gotten away with it. Bin Laden could have acquired a 10 kilotonner and used it to turn all of Manhattan into radioactive rubble, the Americans could have known the Saudis connived fully on the attack plan, and the response would have still been to invade Iraq/bomb Iran instead. The Saudis should be more confident in what their decades of bribery has accomplished for them. They've achieved full walking-in-water status in the American political system and it won't fall apart for them in anyone's lifetime.
